Trainings

Building skills for educators, volunteers, and students, so learning lasts beyond the classroom.

Sewing and tailoring skills training

Break the Chain of Poverty equips educators, volunteers, and community members with skills that create ripple effects in classrooms, households, and local economies. Our trainings combine hands-on practice with mentoring so people can lead with confidence, earn with dignity, and open new pathways for themselves and the next generation.

Training areas we invest in

Sewing & Tailoring

Garment construction, alterations, and small-business basics help participants turn their craft into income with pride. Upon completion, participants are supported with sewing machines to help them start or expand their own work.

English & Communication

Practical English and speaking skills build confidence for school, work, and community leadership.

Computer Skills Training

Participants learn essential digital skills such as typing, basic software use, and internet navigation. This training helps them access education, improve job opportunities, and confidently use technology in daily life.

Entrepreneurship

Planning, budgeting, and customer care prepare participants to launch or grow small enterprises.

Leadership & Personal Development

Goal-setting, teamwork, and character workshops equip teachers, volunteers, and youth to model positive change.

Why These Trainings Matter

  • Practical skills empower individuals and families to move from short-term support toward sustainable livelihoods and lasting independence.
  • Communication, leadership, and digital skills strengthen both personal growth and the impact of our schools and community programs.
  • These trainings open pathways to education, employment, and meaningful participation in today's economy.
  • Each pathway connects learning to dignified work and service, aligned with our American Academy of Excellence schools and programs in Kinshasa.
